The Richards family leaves to head to the beach!!! After a long car ride and eating lunch on the road, we finally made it to the NC Ferry to head to Fort Caswell, NC.
We made it to our hotel at Caswell!
After unpacking at our hotel, we went to Atlantic Seafood to eat dinner. It was delicious!
Day one of our family vacay was completed by walking on the beach that night.
Tuesday morning we woke up to rainy weather. Something about waking up to rain at the beach is so peaceful.
While waiting for the rain to pass, we drove to Southport to have lunch and explore. So glad I had my Hunter Wellies with me so I could enjoy walking around in the rain!
Next, we stopped at Yacht Basin Provision Co. to have lunch. Their cheeseburgers and fries are like no other! Good thing calories don’t count when you’re on vacation 😉
It quit raining after lunch, so we went back to our hotel to change clothes so we could go to the beach. I looked out our window and there was such a gorgeous view of a rainbow over the water.
The rest of the day consisted of going to the beach, watching the sunset, crab hunting, and watching fishermen fish on the pier.
Wednesday morning we woke up to watch the sunrise at 6:27am. Watching the sunrise each morning was so beautiful!
Wednesday, we climbed on forts, looked for seashells on the beach, went to the pool, and then went to Southport. One of my favorite things to do in Southport, is to swing on the swings with my mom while watching boats go by and people feeding Seagulls.
Since we were already at the Provision Co., we went back for dinner because it is too good to pass up. Instead of a cheeseburger, I had a crab cake sandwich and I think it may have tasted a little better than the burger. Everything they have hits the spot 😉 Dinner also came with a nice view.
Before heading back to Caswell, we had to make a stop at Fuzzy Peach. It was so sugary and yummy!
Once we got back to Caswell, we went for a walk along the beach while watching the sunset, which was nothing short of amazing!
While walking along the beach, we decided to walk to the pier to see if anyone was fishing. There was a really nice fisherman there from out of town fishing. We stayed on the pier talking to him and watching him fish. He caught a baby shark and was nice enough to let me get a picture with it!
Thursday morning, we woke up and did our normal routine of watching the sunrise. After that, we went to the pool and beach one last time before heading home the next day.
After the beach we went back to Southport and had MORE ice cream for an afternoon snack while relaxing 🙂
We went to Bella Cucina for dinner for a little Italian food. The pizza there is scrumptious!
After eating as much pizza as we could, we went back to Caswell to explore in the forts and walk along the beach some more.
One thing I learned while being at the beach, is that it is impossible to wear a Fedora without it flying away.
The last full day at the beach came to an end.
Friday morning, it was time for us to leave 😦 but before we left, we had to feed the seagulls.
We made one more stop in Wilmington at the best coffee shop before going home.
Our family vacation has come to an end.
Until next time,
