My family and I have finally finished moving into our new house and I have finally got the hang of college at a new university, so it’s time to catch all you lovely people up on what I have been doing 🙂
For those who don’t know, October is my absolute FAVORITE month! With Halloween movies, Halloween treats, pumpkins, fall scented candles, football games, NC State Fair, and Halloween, how could it not be the best time of year?
Everyday in October I try to do something a little Halloweenish. Since October 1st landed on a Saturday, I spent all morning in my new room with a fall candle lit while watching SyFy’s 31 Days of Halloween.
Because we live in Raleigh now, we are literally in the middle of everything, so we have access to a lot different ways to celebrate fall. We live right down the road from a pumpkin patch and with me being obsessed with pumpkin everything, I’ll take a trip to Starbucks just to get a Pumpkin Spice Latte and look around at pumpkins at the pumpkin patch just for a stress reliever.
My little brother is on his school’s football team, so Thursday nights have become a favorite because my family gets to go to his games and watch him play. Go number 16!!!
On our free nights, my family and I try to bake something Halloweenish while watching a Halloween movie 🙂 If we don’t bake anything, I’ll even take a quick trip to get Target’s popcorn because it’s just like movie theater popcorn for only $1.
This past Friday night was homecoming at Broughton High School (near where we live) and that is where my mom used to go to school, so we took a family outing to watch Broughton’s football game and see the band play. The temperature was in the 50’s, so it was a perfect night for a football game and hot chocolate 🙂
Now to one of my most favorite parts about October… the NC State Fair. Today my family took a trip to the fair. My family isn’t a huge fan of rides at the fair, so it mainly consisted of food and walking around looking at things. When we first arrived, we went to look around at the Christmas trees and Pumpkins since it was the closest thing to the entrance. Then we went inside of the building where all of the cute animals are located. After seeing everything we wanted to see, we rode a few rides before eating anything. Once we finished riding a couple rides we ate dinner then watched a stunt show. Once the show was over, we took the lift, (which was my favorite thing to do) to near the entrance of the fair to watch a band perform from Asheville, NC called Fireside Collective. Check them out on Facebook! Once they finished, we ended our day with candy apples and headed home. Now, we’re trying to decide what Halloween movie to watch 🙂
Now that I have caught you guys up on what I have been up to and my favorite things about fall, I will hopefully be able to blog more frequently. I am looking for suggestions about what I should dress up as for this Halloween, so feel free to comment! And I want to hear what your favorite thing about fall is 🙂 You can also follow me on Instagram @katebrichards to stay connected as well! 🙂
Until next time,
