Embracing What’s to Come in 2019

Hope you all had a great and safe New Year’s Eve and your new year is going well so far! I’m super excited about what 2019 is going to hold and am ready to tackle anything that comes my way. I decided not to have a new year’s resolution this year because I usually don’t keep at it for very long and then I just get disappointed in myself. But I am going to work on things for myself this year. Top 4 things I’m working towards:

  1.  Managing stress/anxiety – I know I say I try to stay calm through school and everything and I usually fail at it, but I feel really good about my upcoming semester and finishing out strong. With the classes I have coming up this semester and not having stats (thank goodness), I really am going to try to manage my stress more.
  2. Continuing to be healthy – Last year, I wanted to lose a certain amount of weight, which I did, so now I just want to focus on keeping the weight off and being healthy including eating clean and excercising regularly.
  3. Saying thank you – this doesn’t mean when someone holds a door for me or does something nice for me I can’t say thank you. This means if someone gives me a compliment I will try to say thank you. My confidence over the years hasn’t been great plus having to deal with imposter syndrome makes things worse, so one of the things I’m working on is saying thank you. If someone says “you’re pretty,” “I like your hair,” or “you’re talented,” which have been said in the past recently, I usually say something to change the subject or say “you really don’t have to say that.” Whenever someone compliments me, I don’t believe them and think they’re just saying it because they have to. During this year, I’m going to try to work on myself and say “thank you” if someone gives me a compliment and not tell myself they’re lying to me.
  4. Embracing the unknown – There’s a lot of things this year that I won’t be in control of, such as internships, jobs, and changes in life. Instead of worrying about what’s next for me, I’m going to try to embrace not knowing what the future holds and continue to work hard for what I want.

For now, I’m going to continue spending time with my siblings before they go back to England. I’m loving every minute of watching movies, having relaxing days, and playing games. We’ve played so many games so far, I went on a Target run this morning to pick up more games.

What are you excited for or working towards in 2019? I would love to find out what you all are looking forward to during this year, so comment below!

Until next time,

Caitlin xxx
