A day of more exploring! Yesterday we went to Hadrian’s Wall. Emperor Hadrian of Rome had the wall built to keep out the “barbarians” also known as the Scots. Hadrian’s Wall was begun in 124 AD. 800 Roman soldiers lived in Housteads Fort along the wall to guard this part of the Roman Empire for 280 years.
Hadrian’s Wall goes for miles and miles and miles. Nowadays people hike some of the wall over multiple days. We just hiked part of the wall and saw the main fort part, which is the most touristy and where the visitor center/museum is. The views were incredible! The pictures don’t capture how majestic and pretty the views and scenery were!
Today is a day of traveling back to my brother and his fiancé’s house in Chelmsford, Essex, where we were before. This weekend we’re going to be celebrating my soon to be sister-in-law at her Hen Weekend (in the states it’s called a Bachelorette party), so I’m not sure how much I’ll be blogging. I’ll try to post a blog when I have the opportunity!
Until next time,
